To Stretch a Plank: A Survey of PsychokinesisRobinson, Diana | |
Ms. Robinson is a psychologist with a long-term interest in parapsychology, and her book is a comprehensive survey of PK phenomena and theories, in three sections. The first reviews laboratory research, including a discussion of Uri Geller, Ingo Swann, Matthew Manning, Felicia Parise, and Jean-Pierre Gerard. The second reviews spontaneous and mediumistic PK. There is a chapter on psychic photography and electronic voice phenomena, and one on miracles as PK. It concludes with an interesting chapter on unexplained phenomena and accounts which demand further investigations. The final section provides an excellent review of theories, with chapters on Stanford's PMIR and the conformance model of psi, and one recapping and classifying the more traditional theory. The last chapter is devoted to the implications of PK. | |
