Dictionary of Mysticism and the Occult

Drury, Nevill

Contains almost 3,000 terms in the fields of spiritualism, magic, mysticism, and parapsychology. Also included are biographies of important persons associated with these fields, with references to their major works. It is necessarily much less comprehensive than Shepard's Encyclopedia of Occultism and Parapsychology. As regards parapsychology, it is much less complete than Thalbourne's Glossary or Shepard. It does not contain any terms drawn from experimental parapsychology, such as decline effect, psi missing, and random event generator. So in essence the terms are drawn more from psychical research than parapsychology. Channeling and well-known channelers are not included, but many historical mediums and psychical researchers are. It is well cross-referenced. As the title indicates, parapsychology is not the main subject; in regard to mysticism and the occult, this appears to be a useful dictionary.
