Where Two Worlds Touch: Spiritual Rites of Passage

Karpinski, Gloria D.

The dustcover identifies the author as a holistic spiritual counselor. In this book she concentrates on the psychodynamics of change as a form of spiritual growth, which she has broken down into a 7-step process. This practical handbook is in three parts. The first, Initiation, describes the spiritual significance of change in general terms. Part 2, The 7 Steps of Conscious Change, describes each stage in undergoing the process of change consciously: The form, the challenge, the resistance, the awakening, the commitment, the purification, and the surrender. The last part, From Form to Surrender—Living With Conscious Change, describes various scenarios involving stages in the change process. She closes with a chapter on how one can be an agent of change and become a "world server," which in essence is to be a lover of the truth that lies beyond appearances. They understand that change is "the alchemical process through which God takes our divided self and makes of it a sacred whole" (p. 317). The bibliography is a list of suggested readings.
