Sir Oliver Lodge: Psychical Researcher and ScientistJolly, W.P.
Lodge was a pioneer in parapsychology as well as in physics. He assisted in an experiment with Malcolm Guthrie, the first well-designed successful ESP test. His deserved renown as a scientist and educator lent respectability to the new science of psychical research, which he and others were bringing to birth. This is the first full-length biography of Lodge, and Jolly, himself a physicist and a biographer of Marconi, describes Lodge's scientific, social, and personal life. At least half of the book, as was at least half of Lodge's life, is devoted to his work on psychical research, including his study of cross correspondences and mediumship and how he became convinced of survival.
