Multiple Man: Explorations in Possession and Multiple Personality

Crabtree, Adam

Crabtree, a Catholic clergyman and psychotherapist, has written about multiple personality. The first of the four parts of this book is about divided consciousness and multiple personality, beginning with mesmerism. The second part is about possession and its relation to multiple personality. The third presents case histories from the author’s practice, including 50 cases of apparent possession, and the final part is theoretical. Although Crabtree’s speculations go beyond psychology, he admits that purely psychological theories could be considered sufficient to explain the phenomena.
