Psychology and Religion: Eight Points of View (3d ed.)Fuller, Andrew R.
An alternate title for this book could have been "Religion as Mediated by Key Psychologists." Each chapter presents the highlights of the views of 8 psychologists who have presented fresh ideas about religious psychology. Each chapter has its own reference list. The psychologists are William James, Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Gordon Allport, Abraham Maslow, Alan Watts, Erich Fromm, and Viktor Frankl. The last chapter, Developments, presents recent views of Donald Winnicott, Ana-Maria Rizzuto, Paul Pruyser, Antoine Vergote, Bernard Spilka, Daniel Batson, and Roger Sperry, along with references. The book serves as a good overview of or refresher course on important insights psychology has to offer religion. To give just one example. Information on the plateau experience is not easy to find. Fuller notes it in the index and devotes 4 pages to it in the chapter on Maslow.
