The Mask of Time: The Mystery Factor in Timeslips, Precognition and Hindsight Forman, Joan
This is an inquiry into oddities of time, or timeslips such as precognition and retrocognition, and experiences such as déjà vu and time stopping. It is aimed at the general reader, though the author, who has written several books on hauntings in England, hopes it might provide researchers food for thought. She says that "primarily, it is a book of search." She attempts "to look again at time, the familiar companion, and see it with fresh eyes" (p. 13). She made an appeal through the British press for anomalous time experiences to which there was an unexpectedly large response from many parts of the world. Accounts of these cases are liberally interspersed throughout the text. She theorizes about time, drawing on physics, religion, and parapsychology. Many of the experiences described in the book contain a mystical element, and this is incorporated in her hypotheses about time slips, although she also attempts to align it with known facts and current scientific investigation.
