Deliverance: Psychic Disturbances and Occult Involvement

Perry, Michael (Ed.).

The papers presented here are the result of the work of the Christian Exorcism Study Group and the Anglican Churchmen. They share their training and experiences in helping people who have become involved in a problem that has an occult or psychic component and need help. The Group is associated with the Churches' Council for Health and Healing. One chapter offers counsel to the counselors. Twelve guidelines are set forth to follow when confronted with a case. There are also 12 guidelines to aid the counselor from becoming involved. Advice is also offered on practical aspects, such as taking notes. The remaining chapter headings make clear the types of phenomena dealt with: "Poltergeist Phenomena"; "Ghosts and Place Memories"; "The Unquiet Dead"; "The Occult and the Psychic"; "Occultism, Witchcraft and Satanism, Sects and Cults"; "Possession Syndrome"; "Possession"; and "Exorcism." Four appendices offer background information on the Christian tradition of exorcism.
