Parapsychology and the Sciences: Proceedings of an International Conference Held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, August 28-25, 1972Angoff, Allan, & Shapin, Betty (Eds.).
This volume brings together 20 papers delivered at a Parapsychology Foundation conference on parapsychology and the sciences. The participants apparently interpreted the topic differently so their papers may be classified roughly in three major ways of relating parapsychology and the sciences: two papers treat the question of whether parapsychology can be viewed as a science (Dingwall, Mitchell); six deal with scientific methodology in parapsychology (Brier, Cahn, Cutten, Flew, Orme, Schmidt); and the remaining 11 relate parapsychology to other disciplines: psychology (Beloff, Rogo, West), psychoanalysis (Servadio), meteorology (Tromp), psychiatry (Alberti, Smythies), physics (Koestler, Tromp), genetics (Zorab), chemistry (Ellis), and biology (Poynton).
