The Haunted Realm: Ghosts, Spirits and Their Uncanny AbodesMarsden, Simon
This book offers text and superb photographs of 60 of the most interesting haunted places in the British Isles taken by an internationally know photographer. Marsden began this work as an exercise in photography, but as he explains in the Preface, "as the work progressed, I was greatly inspired and intrigued by the number of inexplicable stories of ghosts and other paranormal experiences that people recounted to me. I began to feel myself to be a catalyst, revealing a hidden reservoir of information that people were in the main to embarassed to admit to anybody else for fear of being ridiculed" (p. 6). Moreover, some unusual experiences occurred to him as he worked on gathering material for the book. He observes: "The strange thing was that throughout all the time I was working on the project I felt I was being somehow guided and protected. It was as if everything had a predetermined pattern and the number of actual coincidences and synchronizations was uncanny" (p. 6).
