The Seeing Eye, the Seeing I: Perception, Sensory and Extrasensory Haynes, Renee
The author, a trained historian and a former editor of the Journal and Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research, has had a lifelong interest in parapsychology and this book represents a summary of her thinking on that subject. She discusses the relationship between psi and sensory experience; the manner in which the human personality modifies perceptions, and the fact that the nonanalytical function of the psyche, such as imagery and emotions, can mediate the way psi is expressed. She also offers useful observations on psi-conducive states of consciousness and other variables affecting the expression of psi. Although the bulk of her examples are spontaneous cases, Haynes draws on all aspects of parapsychological research and on psychology, physiology, medicine, and biology.
