Beyond the Brain: Birth, Death and Transcendence in Psychotherapy

Grof, Stanislav

Grof presents the data from 30 years of consciousness research in the context of the new paradigm emerging from psychotherapy, anthropology, physics, parapsychology, and thanatology. In a long introductory chapter, "The Nature of Reality: Dawning of a New Paradigm," he presents a preliminary holonomic approach to consciousness research, and he relates psi experiences to transpersonal psychology. He attempts to provide a new understanding of the therapeutic process and touches on psychotherapy and personal development. There is a chapter entitled "New Perspectives in Psychotherapy and Self-Exploration." The final chapter discusses the current global crisis and the future of conscious evolution.
