Psychic Studies: A Christian's ViewPerry, Michael
This is a collection of Michael Perry's writings, most of them previously published in many British and American periodicals with small circulations. The overall purpose of the book is to provide a way of looking at reality from a position between two disciplines, Christianity and parapsychology, that for too long have been ignorant and distrustful of one another. Many of the pieces have been modified and adapted to this purpose. Some recurring themes are standards of scientific evidence, the role of faith, and the extent to which the psychical and the spiritual overlap or diverge. The role of ethics in Christianity and also in parapsychology is pointed out. About half of the book deals with theological aspects of survival, including resurrection and reincarnation. Throughout, the author succeeds in showing how parapsychology may help Christianity and vice versa.
