Eileen Garrett and the World Beyond the SensesAngoff, Allan
Eileen Garrett was not only one of the most gifted mediums ever to be investigated scientifically, but she was also a capable administrator (she organized the Parapsychology Foundation), writer, and publisher. This biography is written by a man who has been a journalist and editor, and for many years has worked for the Parapsychology Foundation while also serving as Director of Public Relations at the Teaneck New Jersy Public Library. In the introduction, Angoff states: "I worked with Eileen Garrett for twenty-five years, a skeptic like herself about psychic people. But I know her psychic feats cannot be ignored even if they are an affront to reason. I have tried to tell her story objectively. I have gone back to her earliest years, presenting her own words about her psychic experiences when she was five and a `sinful' child, and those that occurred when she was older and famous as an awesome seer" (p. xi). The first four chapters are about Eileen Garrett as psychic and parapsychologist. The remaining 12 present a roughly chronological review of her life and accomplishments.
