Parapsychology in General Record Type: Review ID: 1218 |
|
ESP and PsychologyBurt, Sir Cyril (Anita Gregory, Ed.).
British parapsychologist Anita Gregory compiled this chronological selection of Cyril Burt's lectures, reviews, and papers on parapsychology. Since Burt's death, incontrovertible evidence of fraud in his psychological research and writing has been uncovered. However, Burt's parapsychological contribution was primarily theoretical, so his views can be judged on their own merits. Although all the selections are scholarly, an effort was made to choose those pieces that were addressed more to the general reader than to professional scientists. Included are a 1953 lecture entitled "Psychical Research," "The Soul in 1966," "Parapsychology and its Implications," and reviews of Gardner Murphy's Challenge of Psychical Research, Jung's autobiography, and Alister Hardy's Divine Flame. Previously unpublished are "Cross Correspondences in Random Material" and "The Next Steps in Psychical Research."
