The Shadow and the Light: A Defence of Daniel Dunglas Home, the Medium

Jenkins, Elizabeth

The material for this life of Daniel Dunglas Home was taken chiefly from Home's two works, Incidents in My Life, series I and II, and from the two books by his widow, D.D. Home, His Life and Mission and The Gift of D.D. Home. Thus, it is primarily a sympathetic retelling of the story of Home's life. The author says that her book contains two features that she believes have not appeared in print elsewhere: a thorough following-out of the story of Robert Browning's conduct to Home and a full account of the behavior, surroundings, and past history of Mrs. Jane Lyon, the plaintiff in the Lyon vs. Home case.
