Active Meditation: The Western Tradition

Leichtman, Robert R., & Japikse, Carl

This is a practical handbook on meditation as a means of personal growth and personality integration. Although the subtitle implies that the Western tradition is the aspect of meditation emphasized, it is not the Western contemplative tradition but a Western nonsectarian view of meditation, which includes the esoteric tradition. The purpose, potential, and techniques of meditation are set forth with the general goal of expressing the higher self of the meditator. This is a practice that the authors followed in writing the book itself.
