There is More Beyond: Selected Papers of Gardner MurphyMurphy, Lois Barclay
Here Lois Murphy has lovingly collected some of her husband Gardner Murphy's articles aimed at parapsychologists and some at psychologists. She also includes some of his writings that indicate that human beings are isomorphic with the universe. The book opens with Lois Murphy's Introduction and an autobiographical essay by Gardner Murphy. Section 2, "History of Psychology in the Making," contains 7 articles. The third section, "Parapsychology and the World of Science," has 8 selections. Their titles read like old friends that still inspire: "Psychical Phenomena and Human Needs" (1943); "Removal of Impediments to the Paranormal" (1944); "The Natural, the Mystical, and the Paranormal" (1952); "Progress in Parapsychology" (1959); "Unfinished Business" (G.M. and Herbert L. Klemme, 1966); "Lawfulness Versus Caprice: Is There a `Law of Psychical Phenomena'?" (1964); "Are There Any Solid Facts in Psychical Research?" (1970); and "The Problem of Repeatability in Psychical Research" (1971). The fourth section contains two seminal pieces on "Humanity in the Universe." The final section consists of a bibliography of his books and a list of his articles, each one in chronological order. If one wants to understand why people are intrigued by parapsychology or to renew one's own interest in the field, Gardner Murphy still cannot be surpassed.
