This volume is based on the presentations at the 30th annual convention of the Parapsychological Association held at Edinburgh University. Lengthy abstracts are provided of 48 papers. (This is the first convention of the Parapsychological Association in which no symposia were held. Nor were there any round tables.) The convention consisted of 48 papers, and the presidential and an invited address. Lengthy abstracts are presented for each of the papers which are presented in 16 categories as follows: "PK Studies: PK Versus IDS" (3), "PK Studies: Observational Theories and Silent Feedback" (3), "The Remote Action Project" (5), "Belief and Affect in ESP" (2), "ESP: Target Qualities and Personal Relationships" (3), "Psychological Correlates of Psi" (3), "Brief Papers" (4), "Spontaneous Cases and Field Studies" (4), "Concerning Fraud and Error" (3), "Statistical Issues and Methods" (3), "New Interpretations of ESP Literature" (3), "New Approaches to Traditional Issues" (3), "Philosophical Issues" (3), "The Psi Controversy" (2), "Historical Papers" (3), "Invited Address" (1), and "Presidential Address" (1). The full texts are provided of John Beloff's invited address, "Extreme Phenomena and the Problem of Credibility" and Richard S. Broughton's Presidential Address, "If You Want to Know How It Works, First Find Out What It's For." JoMarie Haight Sarling compiled the name and subject indexes. | |
