Mind, Matter, and Gravitation: A Theoretical and Experimental Study (Parapsychological Monographs No. 11)Forwald, Haakon | |
The work reported here is based on results obtained in placement experiments carried out by the author. A study of the main features of the results in relation to the physical conditions of the experiments has led to the recognition of mathematical structures which are the same in PK forces as those observed in physics. The findings suggest that PK forces are of a gravitational kind, and that they originate from a mental influence on atomic nuclei in the material which is used in the movable bodies in the experiments. The energy necessary for cube displacements appears to be produced by the cube material through the transformation of a tiny part of the cube mass to energy, according to Einstein's formula E=mc2 , where c is the velocity of light. In recognized physics such a transformation is normally associated with radioactive decay, which can be proved with suitable instruments. However, measurements with a Geiger counter in PK experiments have failed to prove the occurrence of radioactive effects, which effects should necessarily have been very strong at the level of the energies calculated in connection with the observed displacements of cubes. The experiments therefore suggest that the mentally released energy is delivered by the nuclei in the form of gravitational potential differences, which involves a process not yet known to contemporary physics. It is believed that mass-spectrometrical investigations of cube materials used in PK experiments would be helpful in further PK research. If it is found that, for instance, isotope abundances have been changed during an experimental PK series, then this would provide a physical proof of a PK action, because such a change can normally be obtained only in high-energy particle accelerators. The study suggests that the mind is a non-energetical quality, but that it can interact with matter and energy on the microphysical (structural) level. Gravitation still represents a problem within physics, as it has not been proved to have an energetical aspect. If gravitation is structural (non-energetic) it might provide the basic element of transition to be considered in connection with psi phenomena. | |
