Conscious EvolutionMitchell, Janet Lee
Mitchell, who earned a doctorate in psychology with a dissertation on parapsychology, has learned to live by means of what is implied by her parapsychological studies. In essence, she teaches that it "is important to our conscious evolutionary process that we acknowledge the existence of something larger than ourselves, something with more knowledge and more power than ourselves. The next step is to realize that there is no separation between us and that source. Once you are consciously connected—wait, watch and listen. You will receive instruction in some form and, in time, you will recognize true guidance as opposed to ego gratification. Trust your inner guidance and follow it for the most fascinating adventure of your life" (p. 13). These are also basic tenets of the EHE process. Although variants of the basic positive message conveyed may be found in many books, three interesting and important chapters form the heart of the book. They are on the psychology of resistance—of what holds us back from fulfilling a larger destiny. One, an outgrowth of her firsthand experience as a parapsychologist, is entitled "How We Invalidate ESP Abilities." The second is "Is Religion Holding Us Back?," and the last is "Are We Holding Ourselves Back?"
