Angel PowerConnell, Janice T.
The author, who is an attorney, has been aware of the reality of angels since she was rescued by them from a situation of "tragedy" and "terror." "The purpose of this book is to share some of the insights and stories" she has learned. It is based not only on her own experience but those of many others she interviewed, but whose identities are protected. She also draws on cultural sources, but she is especially a follower of Saint Gregory the Great, "who saw spiritual belief ... as a personal encounter with the Divine" (p. xvii). The largest section is the first: "The Power of Angels." The second and smallest is on "The Forces of Evil and the Kingdom of Illusion." The third section is on "The Nine Choirs of Angels," and the last is devoted to "How to Access the Power of Angels." She holds that angels "are persons; they have their own personalities and characteristics" (p. xi). They both "stand before the throne of God" and are "at the same time ... among us" (p. xi). The basic format of the 14 chapters is to provide information and teachings about specific angels and their qualities and then to illustrate their powers by examples of actual experiences. Connell holds that "humanity stands at the brink of the Era of Angels" and directs this book to "those who desire to know angels well and to communicate with them" (p. xiii).
