The Ouija Board:Doorway to the OccultGruss, Edmond C., with Hotchkiss, John G.
Although the ouija board has reportedly replaced Monopoly as the favorite board game in this country, it is exceedingly difficult to find information on the ouija board in the literature. The author, who is Chairman of the History Department at Los Angeles Baptist College, has written a book based on Biblical answers to questions about the occult, but it is also an excellent book about the ouija board and automatism. He provides a history of the ouija board, a chapter on what makes it work, and one on the use of the board in psychic development and the dangers involved in so doing. Because of the great interest in the occult engendered by The Exorcist, in which Regan’s possession was brought about ‘through her use of the ouija board, Gruss also has three chapters on possession and demonology.
