Leaving the Body: A Practical Guide to Astral Projection

The purpose of Rogo's Leaving the Body is to provide "a complete yet inexpensive guide to the genuine procedures" (p. xii) for inducing astral projection or OBEs. It is based on his extensive reading, contact with psychics who were familiar with projection (such as Keith Harary and Ingo Swann), and his own personal experiences. Several techniques are presented: dynamic concentration; progressive muscular relaxation; dietary control; breathing, yoga, and mantra; the Monroe techniques; visualization; dream control; and guided imagery. The final chapter briefly summarizes theories of the OBE and discusses the role the OBE plays in self-transformation and related after-effects.
