Advances in Parapsychological Research: 8Krippner, Stanley. (Ed.).
This must for anyone with a serious interest in parapsychology continues to provide solid yet varied research reviews on selected topics. This volume begins with a review of spontaneous parapsychological experiences by Douglas M. Stokes. Loftur Reimar Gissuarson reviews "Methods of Enhancing PK Task Performance." Sybo Schouten contributes a chapter on "Psychic Healing and Complementary Medicine." Athena Drewes writes on "Testing Children for Paranormal Abilities." Marcello Truzzi contributes "Reflections on the Sociology and Social Psychology of Conjurors and Their Relations With Psychical Research." Rosemarie Pilkington’s piece is a tribute to Emilio Servadio, to whom the volume is dedicated. Joanne D.S. McMahon and James G. Matlock contributed "A Selected Bibliography of Books on Parapsychology, 1991-1994, which covers 117 titles. The value of this work is that it provides in-depth reviews of different topics in each volume, although some basic subjects, such as ESP research, are updated in later volumes. Even if individuals do not buy personal copies, they should recommend it to their local libraries.
