Sorcery

Hurley, J. Finley

Hurley, a forensic psychologist, writes about remote control of human behavior and delves into the cultural antecedents of the phenomenon found in the literature of anthropology, magic, and shamanism. He also reviews relevant findings from psychology and parapsychology about the ability to hex or heal at a distance. He attempts to show that sorcery is theoretically possible and provides instructions on how to practice it. In the last chapter, he speculates on the ramifications of sorcery and the possibility that it may be an unsuspected force in history. His bibliography is extensive and useful, especially for its nonparapsychological citations.
