In Search of the Sacred: A Pilgrimage to Holy Places

Jarow, Rick

The author, who is an instructor of Oriental Humanities at Columbia University and Dean of Continuing Studies at New Seminary, provides an autobiographical account of his pilgrimage to many well-known as well as lesser-known holy places of the world. He recounts his spiritual autobiography in the Introduction, which explains why he visited sacred places. The holy places described are in France (13), Italy/Greece (11), India (13), and Egypt/Israel (8). In an Epilogue he briefly describes a journey from Wyoming to Washington D.C. Emphasis is placed on Jarow's personal experiences at these holy places rather than on the places themselves.
