Seances & SpiritualistsAndreae, Christine
According to the author, this is "an introduction to some of the more intriguing people and phenomena connected with spiritualism" (p. 8). She describes many of the mediums of the nineteenth century such as Andrew Jackson Davis, the Fox sisters, and Daniel Dunglas Home, but she also covers some twentieth century psychics such as Edgar Cayce, Arthur Ford, Eileen Garrett, and Robert Monroe. She deals with the pros and cons concerning the existence of such subjects as table-tipping, spirit photography, reincarnation, survival of death, and out-of-body experiences, and provides a firsthand account of a seance. There is an annotated list of suggestions for further reading.
