Life at the Edge of ScienceRubik, Beverly
This is a collection of 14 of Dr. Rubik’s papers on anomalies at the frontier of science. The book is in three sections: Anomalistics (3 papers), Consciousness Studies (5 papers), and Biology and Medicine (6 papers). Throughout she is very much aware of the effect of the consciousness of the researcher on research results and the way they are viewed. Several papers point out the epistemological implications of consciousness studies. Dr. Rubik was appointed to the Alternative Medicine Program Advisory Council at NIH in 1996. In the last section she reports on her own research with healers. She emphasizes the limitations of the mechanistic paradigm for medical research and presents an alternate paradigm for biology and medicine. The last paper is entitled "Paradigm for Alternative Medical Research," which takes subjectivity into account.
