The Astral JourneyGreenhouse, Herbert B.
Although somewhat loosely organized, this book is the most complete survey of out-of-body experiences published to date. Herbert Greenhouse is a popular writer who has authored other books on parapsychology. In this book he presents an historical survey of OBEs, a review of the kinds of evidence for OBEs, including recent laboratory experiments, and the psychology of the out-of-body experience. Its strength is not so much in its depth as in its breadth of coverage. Each example—and they are numerous—was selected to illustrate a particular aspect of the OBE experience that in toto provide a taxonomy of the myriad forms OBEs can take. Although most of the cases have been published previously, Greenhouse includes some new material that he uncovered as well as two experiences of his own.
