The Paranormal Perception of Color (Parapsychological Monographs No. 16) Duplessis, Yvonne
The author reports on her research into ways that colors can appear under entirely different circumstances and in a space where it is permissible to distinguish three levels. The first of these levels, accepted as normal, consists of the perceiving of colored images associated with an excitation differing from that of sight. A second level, which is more controversial, has to do with the transmission of a colored image over a distance; here we enter the proper domain of parapsychology. The author’s stated purpose is "to endeavor through an understanding of parapsychology to isolate a special group of phenomena having to do with the paranormal perception of color, meaning by this expression the appearance of color images in our mind without any direct stimulation of the corresponding sense. . . . Some of the most explicative theories touched upon summarily in the text, in elucidation of certain facts, will be critically discussed, as well as the applications which can or could be derived from these investigations."
