Exploring the World of Lucid DreamingLaBerge, Stephen, & Rheingold, Howard
This is a do-it-yourself book of the highest quality. LaBerge has not only verified the techniques in the laboratory but he has practiced them itself. He describes the world of lucid dreaming, or being conscious while dreaming, and various techniques for becoming lucid. He emphasizes the practical applications of lucid dreaming: rehearsal for living, problem solving and creativity, dealing with nightmares, and the healing dream. The most provocative chapter is the last, "Life Is a Dream: Intimations of a Wider World," which is about discovering personal meaning and the meaning of life in lucid dreams, as befits an exceptional human experience, which lucid dreaming is. Each chapter contains several experiential accounts as well as experimental data. Supplementary exercises are presented in an appendix.
