Godseed: The Journey of ChristHouston, Jean
This book would be important if only because in the Preface Jean Houston describes the EHE she had at age 6 that has impelled her ever since. She wrote the book as a presentation of a transformative journey such as are depicted in myths and soul stories. She writes that such myths "provide the templates for transformation and carry the coded matrices of the next steps in human development and the pattern for the partnering of human and spiritual realities" (p. 1). Thus, this book is to be enacted, not simply read. By participating, Houston feels readers will quicken their own journeys and deepen their own paths. She takes key incidents in the life and ministry of Jesus and invites the reader to join his or her personal themes to the "universal reality informing the life of Jesus" (p. 3). Although she recommends this approach for groups of people working as co-voyagers, it may also be done alone. The five aspects of Jesus portrayed are The Mystery Play of Jesus of Nazareth, The Mystery of Identity, The Mystery of Love, The Mystery of Miracles, and The Mystery of Resurrection.
