The National Directory of Haunted Places Hauck, Dennis William
The cover contains this subtitle: A Guidebook to Ghostly Abodes, Sacred Sites, UFO Landings, and Other Supernatural Locations. Hauck says "a place is considered haunted if events occur there that are beyond our ability to explain." Thus, many more types of anomalous events are included than are implied by the restricted term haunted. The coverage is limited to the United States and the arrangement is alphabetical by state and alphabetized by city/town within each state. A paragraph-length description is given of the anomalous events and at least one citation to a report about it. A number of black and white photographs are interspersed throughout. This was intended to be an annual publication, this being the first; but regrettably this has not yet eventuated. Its purpose is to guide travelers to places where anomalies have occurred. A directory of organizations is also included.
