The author, a Catholic priest, is also a sociologist and Director of the Center for the Study of American Pluralism, National Opinion Research Center. As part of the Center’s research program, 1,460 people responded to a poll pertaining to their views on the paranormal. This monograph reports the results of this poll and Greeley’s interpretation of them. The questions were aimed at finding out what percentage of the population has ESP, survival experiences, and mystical experiences. He investigated the types of situations which appear to trigger mystical experiences, and also reports on his efforts to discover if there were significant interactions among various psychological, attitudinal and demographic variables. | |
