This is the proceedings of the 26th annual convention of the Parapsychological Association which was held at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ, August 8-12, 1983. Abstracts are included of 5 papers given in a symposium on psi and the nervous system. Abstracts of papers, research briefs, and poster sessions are presented in two main sections: completed work and interim reports. There were 23 contributions in the first category, further broken down into Experimental Reports (10); Theoretical, Methodological, and Review Articles (6); Surveys (4); and Spontaneous Psi/Field Studies (3). There were 17 contributions in the second category, further divided into Experimental Reports (13) and Qualitative and Field Studies (4). Also included are abstracts of the contributions to three roundtables entitled "The Poltergeist Agent: Fact or Fiction?"; "The Role of Conjurors in Psychical Research and Parapsychology," and "Nonlinear Thinking in Parapsychology." The full text of two invited addresses ("On the Representation of Psi Research to the Community of Established Science," by R.G. Jahn, and "Dream, Metaphor, and Psi," by M. Ullman, and of the presidential address, "A Systems Approach to Psi Research Based on Jungian Typology," by S. Krippner are given. The Name and Subject Indexes were compiled by E.W. Cook. | |
