Advances in Parapsychological Research 6Krippner, Stanley (Ed.)
The 6th volume of Advances is dedicated to John Beloff, and the book opens with a tribute to Beloff by Richard Broughton, who asserts "that history is likely to regard John Beloff's impact on experimental parapsychology as among the most significant since J.B. Rhine" (p. 1). A Preface on the scope of parapsychology by the editor and an Introduction to this volume by John B. Hasted, are followed by five core review chapters: Gertrude R. Schmeidler's "PK: Recent publications and an Evaluation of the Quantitative Research," Rex G. Stanford's "An Experimentally Testable Model for Spontaneous Psi Events: A Review of Related Evidence and Concepts from Parapsychology and Other Sciences," Vernon M. Neppe's "Anomalistic Experience and the Cerebral Cortex," James G. Matlock's "Past Life Memory Case Studies," and Rhea A. White's "A Select Bibliography of Books on Parapsychology, 1985-1988." All five scholarly reviews are important reading, but the one by Stanford is a must because of its interdisciplinary approach and because of its attempts to link both spontaneous and experimental psi.
