The World of Ted Serios: "Thoughtographic" Studies of an Extraordinary Mind (2nd ed.).

Eisenbud, Jule

This is a revision of a work originally published in 1967. It concerns the author's research into the psychic photography of Ted Serios. Although much criticized, in the Preface of this book Eisenbud notes that no one had been able to substantiate that fraud and deception were involved in the results. He writes: "The present edition tells why in a more lucid and more compelling way, I believe, than did the original edition" (p. xi). Although much of the same material is covered in the second edition, it also incorporates new material, some not previously published. Eisenbud adds: "For my part, the work with Ted has changed my views of life and the natural world as nothing else could; . . . I continue to discover in Ted's images . . . features that escaped my attention when they first appeared" (p. xi). Some of the chapter titles have changed but most remain the same. The edition under review has an "Epilogue" reviewing the controversy about Serios and the research findings presented here. There are slightly fewer illustrations in this edition. Both the bibliography and the index have been revised—not only have new items been added, but some have been deleted.
