The Paranormal and the Normal: A Historical, Philosophical and Theoretical Perspective Leeds, Morton, & Murphy, Gardner
This book was half written by the world renowned psychologist/parapsychologist Gardner Murphy and half by Morton Leeds, a former student of Murphy's and now a social administrator. Their intention was to review and condense Murphy's writings on psi with a view to developing a theory of so-called paranormal functions. Part I is a selective historical review of parapsychology. Part II deals with philosophical implications. Part III formulates the relation between psi and psychology, and they theorize as to how psi is likely to occur. Part IV offers some theoretical bases for paranormal functioning, and Part V provides final reflections, with the emphasis on repeatability. The book is aimed primarily at currently practicing parapsychologists with the hope of enlisting the aid of additional researchers.
