The "psychic voyages" of the title refer to three types of spirit journeys: OBEs, NDEs, and survival-type experiences, especially reincarnation. The photography is excellent, but the text is often too choppy to be easily followed, as if directed at readers who do not wish to read more than a thousand words at a sitting. Three chapters comprise the book, but there are 5 "essays": "Journey of the Spirit," "Phases of an OBE," "Back from the Brink," "Exploring Past Incarnations," and "A Wheel of Life and Death." Some Time-Life series can serve useful reference purposes as well as appeal to the general reader. Even with the bibliography and index, this volume can only be recommended to dabblers who only want a momentary exposure to the subjects covered in this book. The message conveyed is Buy, Look, but Don't trouble to read. | |
